Kuszczak joined Manchester United in August 2006 in a transfer deal that involved the transfer of England U-18 goalkeeper Luke Steele and defender Paul McShane to West Brom. It was suspected that Kuszczak’s move was merely a load deal, but then Manchester United’s Chief Executive clarified to the media that the Polish goalkeeper is an official part of the Red Devil squad for four years.

Making his debut for United against arch nemesis Arsenal, Kuszczak gained the Manchester United supporter’s respect after he saved an early Gilberto Silva penalty. However, Emmanuel Adebayor got the better of him and scored a late winner to give United a 1-0 defeat.

With Edwin van der Sar in the club, Kuszczak is now officially Manchester United’s number 2 for the goalkeeper spot. In an interview, he stated that one day he wants to be the number one goalkeeper at Old Trafford. With Ben Foster, both young goalkeepers will give Manchester United a bright future ahead in the goalkeeping department.
